Siti Afidah's accidental homebirth of her second baby
"I couldn't stand properly because at that time I felt the baby's head down very low already. I kept thinking how am I going to the car, I can't even sit or stand now...I tried to breath out the baby and my husband held the baby's head once it was out... and with just another push the baby just splashed out. And I heard a cry from the baby...I turned around and saw the baby blinking her eyes. Can't describe the feeling and how I thanked Allah for such a beautiful princess, beautiful moment."

Rene's simple homebirth of her first baby
"Throughout the labour, hubby was reassuring me that I was doing well,
and that women are amazing, and that baby is near. At about 3pm I reached down
and felt a small balloon-like thing. Was it the head? The sac? I don’t remember
membranes releasing so it must be the sac. Baby’s near! I was encouraged"

Haida's triumphant vaginal birth after cesarean
"When I felt the head, I couldn't stand it
anymore, so I began to push so that I could get my baby out. Within a few
minutes, the baby came out. No sound
coming out from him, he didn't cry at all. My hubby kept on saying “ Yang, anak
kita, anak kita,” and I slowly turned to both of them. DH was holding this
little baby, covered in vernix, staring at us. It was like a dream, a beautiful
dream."

The surprise unassisted & calm birth of Sasha's second baby
"I was resolute in not going into the hospital too early again this time around. Thinking that I would first labour in our bathtub, I started running myself a bath. I lit some candles and climbed into the warm waters. I felt calm and collected as I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing. Suddenly, the ‘surges’ changed and I started feeling an intense push downwards.... ‘I don’t think we’ll make it. I think she’s coming now’..."

Elgin's unassisted homebirth
When I first met third-time German mom Elgin and her husband, I was awestruck with their way of life. They left the modernity of Germany to live a simple self-sustaining life here in a village outside KL. They had already decided on an unassisted birth and was just attending classes to learn some techniques. Attachment parenting, homeschooling and unassisted birthing parents, their philosophy on life in general - about going back to the simplicity of nature, I would say, certainly helped in their achieving a beautiful birth experience for their third addition to the family.

Adibah's peaceful "office" birth
Adibah's birth story is unique as it was done in the privacy of her husband's office! With just her husband and her. After having a disappointing first birth, she knew there was a better way to birth her second baby. Adibah is a very active member in the birth community and I am so lucky to see her blossom into a strong birth advocate.
